The Movement Lab is intended to invite participants to immerse themselves in experiential, social experiments while respecting the different, unique histories housed in the moving body. These workshops guide participants explore space/place and to manipulate and experiment with learning tools, including stainless-steel mixing bowls, fabric loops, and furniture. The chairs and mixing bowls were chosen because they exist within the fabric of our everyday lives and, in manipulating them in unexpected ways, participants learn about ingrained and codified patterns of behavior. The fabric loop experimentation explores the relationship between space, control, and moving body. Based on the information generated from this movement experimentation, collaboration and improvisation, we create written movement scores that can be shared more with one another and communities more broadly.
